Aura named one of Canada's Top 10 New Restaurants for 2008

VICTORIA, BC – After eating their way through hundreds of restaurants across the country last year, Where Canada magazine editors compiled their annual list of the top 10 new restaurants in Canada -- and the Inn at Laurel Point’s Aura restaurant is on the coveted list.

Calling Aura, “The ideal spot to enjoy a multi-course meal, celebrated Point Burger or appy,” the list cites the restaurant’s spectacular menu and expert guidance of award-winning executive chef Brad Horen, along with the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows, waterfront patio and views of Victoria's Inner Harbour as reasons the restaurant is one of the best places to eat in Canada.

“This kind of recognition is overwhelming,” says Inn at Laurel Point hotel manager Scott Hoadley. “It’s a very well-deserved nod to our dedicated staff who put so much work into opening Aura, and go above and beyond every day to make sure our guests have a great experience.”

Aura has been drawing rave reviews since opening this past summer. Critics praise how the menu favours organic and local ingredients, and blends fresh Japanese and European flavours. Regional artisan wines, cocktails and bar drinks made with premium spirits and locally grown ingredients complement the dishes. Restaurant manager Stuart Bruce and his team thrill over suggesting novel wine pairings for diners. The Aura staff are passionate about dining and go through extensive training to learn about the origins of the dishes featured on the menu, including ingredients and flavours.
