Ian Powell Ordained Priest
Victoria, BC - Ian Powell, General Manager of the Inn at Laurel Point and Managing Director of Paul's Restaurants Ltd. was ordained as a priest in the Anglican Church of Canada at Christ Church Cathedral on June 28th 2009. Along with his responsibilities at the hotel, Powell has been studying towards his Masters in Divinity at the Vancouver School of Theology for the past three years and was ordained to the transitional diaconate November 1st 2008.
Powell says there is a great deal of similarities in these two parts of his life. "Caring for people is caring for people, whether it is food and shelter or spiritually, the motivation to serve is the same." Powell looks forward to doing both simultaneously at the hotel, the church or wherever the call is.
