Inn at Laurel Point - Victoria BC Hotel

Victoria's Inn at Laurel Point just got a little furrier
Sept. 30, 2010, Victoria, BC - Hearts are expected to be broken this week as the Inn at Laurel Point announces its newest employee.
And with an impressive resume of chasing squirrels and downing treats, the arrival of Cliff, a four-month-old chocolate lab, marks the first full-time canine staff member for the hotel. Cliff received his official nametag this morning at a formal event.
"Our motto here at Laurel Point is to stay different, and that's exactly what we're doing with the hiring of Cliff," says Ian Powell, managing director of the Inn at Laurel Point. "What really sets Cliff apart from other hotel dogs is his age. This pooch is young, full of life - not to mention a little bit naughty."
And while other hotel dogs typically have a few more years under their leash, Cliff's youthful exuberance is expected to create plenty of smiles in the next few months. Once older, Cliff's on-the-job training will shape him into the ideal companion, and Laurel Point guests will be allowed to take him on walks.
In his role, Cliff will be responsible for greeting guests as well as acting as ambassador of the existing pet program. Duties include tasting treats for freshness and judging the comfort of dog beds.
"We've always been pet-friendly," says Powell. "Our guests are welcome to bring along their furry family members when vacationing, and Cliff will be of great comfort to those unable to travel with their dogs."
Cliff's owner is the Inn's food and beverage director, Chris Jones. To track the progression of Cliff's training, visit the Inn at Laurel Point's Facebook page, Twitter feed (@ILPVictoria)and blog.
