Inn at Laurel Point is looking for a General Manager to take over the leadership of this full-service hotel. The Inn is a social enterprise and prides itself for being a local, independently run property. Reporting to the Company’s Board of Directors, the new General Manager will lead Inn at Laurel Point and be the face and spokesperson for the Inn.

We are looking for a General Manager that will develop and enhance the brand of the Hotel while maximizing revenues and market share within the community.  An independent and collaborative thinker will flourish in this position and oversee our performance yielding leadership team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all matters at the executive level, with minimal direction.  They will have a strong understanding of finance and budgeting in order to apply financial health to decision making.

Strong communication skills are necessary to execute a comprehensive team objective with a shared sense of purpose and direction, while living our four core values- Respect, Excellence, Curiosity and Stewardship.

They will have the ability to communicate, motivate, and lead operating departments to achieve the business goals and objectives of the hotel and in alignment with the Board of Directors.

Developing and executing an innovative Strategic Plan that incorporates capital infrastructure and IT solutions, while incorporating the 2030 Sustainability Plan is essential.

This individual will be a team leader who builds relationships both within the hotel, community, and industry.                                                                        

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a senior position within a hotel of which at least 5 is as a General Manager or equivalent in a full service/luxury hotel. Previous

experience in a non-branded hotel is an asset

  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Hotel & Restaurant Management or an applicable University or College degree
  • Strong people and team building skills
  • Strategic thinker – out of the box adaptor
  • Passionate, engaging, charismatic
  • Strong communicator both written and oral
  • Bottom-line oriented and goal driven
  • Excellent at time management and prioritization
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Experience managing hotel renovations an asset
  • Local and provincial industry involvement is an asset

Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits (automobile and RRSP matching along with an incentive program)

About the Company and Inn

Inn at Laurel Point has 195 bedrooms housed in 2 different styled wings. There are 130 in the original Laurel Wing and 65 in the Erickson Wing (named after the world renowned architect Arthur Erickson who designed it). There is over 10,000 sq ft of meeting space, Aura Waterfront Restaurant + Patio and Duo Café & Bakery.  All set in over 6 acres on the prominence that separates Victoria’s inner and outer harbour.  We are a social enterprise that has been carbon neutral for 10 years.
